For this project, students were asked to create a set of 9 icons as a unified set. Students were given full freedom as to what the topic of the set was, so I decided to choose something I am heavily invested in; the furry fandom. If you don't know what a furry is, it is someone who takes interest in anthropomorphic animals, sometimes dressing up as them.

Process: The first step to any good ideas are to brainstorm out the bad ones. I first set out to brainstorm words that pertained to the furry fandom, such as "money", "art", etcetera. I then began to draw visualizations to those words, figuring out the best way to portray those ideas with nothing but a simple picture.
After sketching, photographs of most of the sketches were taken, which were then put into Adobe Illustrator. There, I used the sketches digitally in order to create a cleaner, more finished vectorized version on top.
Icons were first made in black in white, and then transferred into color. It was again up to the student for us to (successfully) turn a set of two-color imagery into a set of four colors, while being able to retain visual literacy. The palette I chose for my colored icons is personally important, as they are colors that reflect the palette of my own fursona (persona + furry).

Reflection: While extremely happy with the results of these icons, I sometimes consider if I should have chosen a brighter/bolder palette for the colored versions of the icons. I do entertain the idea of coming back to these one day with a new palette to satisfy that.
